LINC is a research prototype from the University of Michigan School of Social Work (Principal Investigator: Nari Yoo). It offers general navigation information to help people reach mental health care. By using it, you agree to the following. If you do not agree, please do not use LINC.
1. LINC is not professional advice
LINC does not provide medical, mental health, or legal advice, and it is not a substitute for a licensed clinician, a qualified interpreter, or an attorney. Using LINC does not create a provider-patient or attorney-client relationship. For any decision about your health, treatment, insurance, benefits, or immigration status, confirm with a qualified professional.
2. It is a beta, and it can be wrong
LINC is under active development. Its content, including answers from the AI assistant, has not been verified and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date. Do not rely on it for any decision. Treat everything you read here as a starting point to check with a person you trust.
3. In an emergency
LINC is not an emergency service and cannot help in a crisis. If you or someone else may be in danger, or you are thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 (the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, free and confidential, interpreters available) or call 911.
4. The AI assistant
The chatbot uses a third-party AI provider to generate replies. AI can be confidently wrong and can reflect bias. Do not enter names, identification or case numbers, addresses, or other details that identify you or anyone else. See the Privacy notice for how information is handled.
5. No warranty; limitation of liability
LINC is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the University of Michigan, the project team, and their partners are not liable for any loss or harm arising from your use of LINC or reliance on its content. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you.
6. Your responsibilities
Use LINC only for general information, verify anything important with a qualified person, and do not submit personal information about other people without their permission.
7. Changes and contact
This draft may change. Questions can go to nariyoo@umich.edu. See also the Privacy notice.
